Injectable Treatments

Injectables treatments such as neurotoxins (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, or Jeuveau) and fillers (Juverderm, Voluma, Restylane, RHA, etc) offer a quick, effective, long-lasting, and minimally invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery to correct minor imperfections or to keep your skin and face looking healthy and refreshed, yet natural. Injectables can effectively and quickly reduce the appearance of wrinkles, laugh lines, crow’s feet, or sunken areas to give you a youthful and smooth facial appearance. Even though the procedures are quick and minimally invasive, the results from injectable treatments are dramatic with little to no downtime.

Neurotoxins currently approved by the FDA are BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. They all block the chemicals that cause muscles to contract and temporarily relaxes the muscle in the treated areas to create smoother skin and more youthful appearance. With aging, our skin becomes thinner and loses elasticity. With repetitive muscle contractions, the thinner and less elastic skin holds on to facial expression lines which become wrinkles, such as frown lines, “crow’s feet,” and forehead furrows. Neurotoxins can relax the muscles in these areas and effectively reduce or even eliminate the wrinkles. “Micro-dosing” refers to an injection technique that reduces the amount of product injected with the ultimate goal of weakening the muscles without paralyzing them. This technique can be used to treat mild wrinkles while maintaining natural expression. After the injections, initial redness or swelling disappears in about an hour. BOTOX has most delayed onset (4-7 days) as compared to Dysport (2-4 days) and Xeomin or Jeuveau (1-2 days). Patients can start to feel it and see the decreased muscle movement soon after the injection however the full results take 1- 2 weeks to show. The effect of the neurotoxin lasts about 3 months. Additional skin treatments to increase skin thickness and/or elasticity such as fillers, microneedling, or other types of skin resurfacing, can enhance the result and maintain the smoothness of your facial skin much longer.

Fillers are injectables that can effectively volumize your skin and soft tissue without invasive surgery. Youthful skin naturally has abundant collagen and hyaluronic acid. Collagen is an integral skin protein providing both structure and elasticity.  Hyaluronic acid is a complex sugar that binds water to maintain skin hydration and volume. With age, concentrations of both collagen and hyaluronic acid decrease in our skin, thus the skin becomes drier, thinner, and less elastic. This translates to wrinkles and fine lines. Not only we lose skin thickness and elasticity, but we also lose fat and bony volume, which can cause hollow, shadowed appearance to the cheek, temple, under-eyes, and around the mouth areas. Injectable fillers are effective for replacing the volume loss and softening wrinkles and folds. A combination of fillers with different stiffness and flexibility can be used at different depth to address all levels of volume loss. There are countless types of fillers available for different injection location and depth. Most of them last between 6 to 12 months. RHA® is the newest FDA approved hyaluronic filler and it is the first and only dynamic filler in the US. There are different levels of stiffness to suit different areas to restore the loss volume and maintain a natural look especially in motion. Because of its innate flexibility, RHA® is shown to last longer than traditional fillers with average lasting up to 15 months.

Aqua injections are customizable skin treatments that can address all types of skin problems including acne scars, pigmentation, aging prevention, and rejuvenation. Different combinations of naturally occurring antioxidants, vitamins, hyaluronic acid, and natural growth factors can be injected directly into the skin to treat and prevent skin imperfections for all skin types. Antioxidants such as glutathione, lipoic acid, and vitamin C can reverse skin damage from the sun as well as prevent future skin damage. For skin hydration, hyaluronic acid is naturally present in our skin. However, as we age, the density of hyaluronic in our skin decreases. Injection of non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid (the natural form of hyaluronic acid) directly into the skin boosts skin hydration and reduces appearance of skin dullness and fine wrinkles. For more mature skin or severely damaged skin, collagen stimulator polymers, amino acids, and regenerative growth factures either various sources, synthetic growth factors, PRP from your own blood, denatured salmon DNA,

Combining different minimally invasive modalities, such as neurotoxins, fillers, and skin treatments can reverse and slow down signs of aging without looking “done”. Everyone has different skin type, different areas of volume loss, and different aesthetic goals. Treatment plan is always customized to individual patient to provide everyone their ideal results.
