Renuvion Cosmetics Technology

Renuvion® tissue contraction technology also known as J-Plasma® is the newest and most advanced energy modality in energy-based treatment.  Renuvion® combines helium plasma with Radio Frequency waveform to quickly heat the tissue to the ideal temperature for collagen remodeling and contraction. With just a single treatment with Renuvion®, you can achieve noticeable soft tissue contraction over a short time in a process I call reverse aging. This treatment is great for patients who have loose skin from weight loss, post-pregnancy, or skin laxity due to aging and it can be used anywhere, on the face, body, and extremities. Renuvion® tissue contraction treatment can be a stand-alone procedure or combined with liposuction or direct fat excision. The improvements are often very dramatic after a single treatment.

Common treated areas are jawline, neck, decolletage, arms, breasts, armpits, bra rolls, abdomen, flanks, back, butt, thighs, and knees.

Who is a Good Candidate for Renuvion® treatment?

The best candidates are healthy patients with realistic expectations of surgery. Ideal patients are non-smokers, or former smokers who have quit smoking for at least one month prior to surgery. Previous surgery in the treated areas may require more meticulous dissection but not a contra-indication.

How is Renuvion® treatment Performed?

Depending on each patient’s needs and goals, different areas can be treated altogether or staged. If treatment is limited, it can be done under local anesthesia in an operating room. However, more extensive treatments of multiple areas may require general anesthesia or monitored anesthesia care. During the procedure, through a small cannula, the Renuvion energy can be delivered underneath the skin, heating the collagen and connective tissues to the temperatures needed for optimal tissue contraction. This heating is done quickly, and the tissue is cooled back to baseline in less than 1 second, therefore no external temperature monitor is necessary.

What is the Recovery?

Downtime from Renuvion® treatments depend on the number of procedures involved. If performed as a stand-alone procedure over small areas (such as jawline, neck, decolletage, armpits, breasts, bra rolls, or knees), downtime is negligible, and most patients can return to light work the next day. If multiple areas are treated along with liposuction, the downtime is similar to liposuction, which is 1-2 weeks. During recovery time, activities may be restricted depending on the more invasive procedure performed (such as liposuction) to limit swelling. Bruising and swelling will be greatest in the first week but should resolve in 2 weeks. Compression garments should be worn 24/7 for the first week for the head and neck areas and for 4 weeks for trunk and extremities. Because helium gas is used for rapid cooling, air trapping in the tissue may occur after the procedure. This is often resolved within the first few days after surgery.

More invasive procedures involving direct skin and soft tissue excision, such as neck lift, abdominoplasty, brachioplasty, or thighplasty, not only pose higher risks of overall complications, require more downtime, but also leave permanent and significant scarring. With Renuvion®, the results may not be as dramatic as the excision procedures, and take months to fully realized, yet many patients prefer this advanced minimally invasive techniques, with less potential of scarring, less potential of major complications, significantly less downtime and proven effectiveness. Renuvion® technology is the minimally invasive procedure that many patients have been waiting for.
